Paul Barrett
What a crappy end to the day. Picked up all the paint for the A series, went to a job to pickup all the stuff from the lads, managed to knock a Henry Hoover over consequently taking a 5ltr can of basecoat with it all over the road!!!!! Thank god it was water based, but gutted got to shell out for 5ltrs again! Hacked off 😤😤😤😤
moodoo
ah nasty...tough lines on the paint! About the piece you made for the boot..as someone with next to no fabrication skills, I love how people like you who know what they're doing can just make pieces like this! How do you make the curved flange at the top, on the inside, did you slit it too? I know from your main build thread that you could probably do this sort of stuff with your eyes closed! I'm surprised to see your car needs what looks like a fair bit of work, when I saw you posting the photos first, it looked really sharp. Paul Barrett
Looks can be deceiving fin. its actually not a bad A series, most are shot, but all worth saving. Made using. Hammer blunt chisel vice some blocks and clamps someone who really knows what they are doing wouldn't of had to make the slits lol. It'll do. Once it's welding in and covered in bog no will know lol
moodoo
Still looks like a tasty bit of work to me! I have an A-series that some year I'll build up, have a redtop engine for it...I might pick your brain a bit at some stage about yours if you don't mind? Paul Barrett
Didn't think get into the garage until lunchtime today with sorting bloody fleet insurance out! 3 hours of calls and emailing, anyway tackled the drivers doors as it's the not so worse one but still a challenge. Still couldn't find my shrinking jaws so just bodged up the repair panels best I could in sections. Bottom front corner, pitted everywhere as usual Project images are available to Club Members Only, Click to become an OMOC Member. Got the curved major section in first to work from, then chopped out the lower corner as it had holes through Project images are available to Club Members Only, Click to become an OMOC Member. Sorry forgot to take some finished pics! Then into other end Project images are available to Club Members Only, Click to become an OMOC Member. Buzzed back with flap wheel and power file for hard to reach bits Project images are available to Club Members Only, Click to become an OMOC Member. Then this real awkward one Project images are available to Club Members Only, Click to become an OMOC Member. Loads of nastiness hiding behind, this was cut out further up too to be sure. Treated it all, I'm not taking all the the thicker steel out. Project images are available to Club Members Only, Click to become an OMOC Member. Got it that all plated up and smoothed back to profile. 7 hours work alone there on one door. Now the passenger one is not so easy. It's a mess. Im having a new lower repair section folded up as it's totally gone, and the outer lower skin will need doing too. If any one has a passenger door in reasonable fettle id be grateful!!! moodoo
Wow, 7 hours on one door alone! I haven't managed 7 hours in my garage I'd say the last 3 months put together! Nice work, keep the pics coming, gives someone like me with a 'some day' project a bit if inspiration...
Paul Barrett
Little bit of metalised filler to blend the blemishes and lines. Project images are available to Club Members Only, Click to become an OMOC Member. Also so found a section of door bottom repair section. Now I do have x2 full lengths of these at one time but never knew what they were!!! Such a plonker used for something none related and all I have left is small section. Anyway I'm dropping the piece have off to my local sheet metal man who sources anything for me from his work. Really cheap and can also cut and fold stuff. If he can replicate it I'm going to have 5 pairs made and sell on if anyone's interested. Leidingertuning only has one left in stock and doesn't plan for anymore anytime soon. Paul Barrett
Exactly chris. For the time it would of took me to fab a version up it works out cheaper to go earn the money. Squeezing the hours in around work and family. mangaged to get both bumpers shaved and primed. Totally smooth now. Need very little filling thank god. An hours worth of panel beating though on the sections that fill the number plate lights on the rear Project images are available to Club Members Only, Click to become an OMOC Member.
