    2019 Club Calendar

I am thinking about getting some more calendars made up for 2019, as they sold quite well last year. I will be taking orders for these, so please keep an eye open for the thread on this one, which will be coming soon. In order to get some nice content for the Calendar, If you would like to have your car featured in the 2019 OMOC Calendar, please post a decent resolution picture of your car. Please could you ensure that pictures are at least 300dpi resolution. They will be printed at roughly A4 size on the finished Calendar, so need to be of decent quality. I try to make the Calendar as attractive as possible and I know there are quite a few decent photographers out there so please post up your fave pics.

    Large drum backplates

I used plenty of penetrating oil on them, front and back and kept applying for about a week. Some gentle persuasion with an FBH and they were spinning round like a good un.

    2019 Club Calendar

I will kick things off on here with a Photo I took of the Billing 2013 Car of the Show, owned by Ben Williamson.
  4. Totally agree and I love the colour. It really suits the Manta Coupe shape and is a bit of a rarity now. I also own a totally original 1979 2.0SRB. I bought it with the intention of doing something similar to the Silver B (pictured) with Twin lights and Big Wheels - and also fit a 16v Redtop on carbs. I went as far as getting all the relevant parts. When I got it home and realised just how original it was, I couldnt bring myself to mess about with it. I took off the hideous Window Louvres from the rear and side and have kept it totally standard for the last 14 years! Totally agree and I love the colour. 5. These don't come up for sale very often - used but rare. The Momo Ones probably arent quite a rare as the RAID ones, which are really lovely if you can find one. Strong money though. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/IRMSCHER-MOMO-Leather-steering-wheel-OPEL-Manta-Ascona-Kadett/222884099938?hash=item33e4ed7762:g:DKUAAOSwmOdaqqaK

    Sad a series

Ended with no bids.....wonder why. It probably rained over night and washed the rest of the car away.
  7. I was chatting to Anne a few weeks ago about the various times that the car has come up for sale and not sold and she did seem to have warmed to the idea. I think it may be fate trying to tell her something!
  8. Lovely photos Herman. I would have loved to have been at that meeting!
  9. Looks like it sold for £3200. Cheap for what it was, it looked like a decent solid car. Someone got a bargain! Is it the Gold thing that puts folk off I wonder? I have always quite liked them ever since I saw one of the first 16v conversions featured in Fast car back in the late 80’s.

    Manta convertible from a hatch

What an unusual conversion. Looks like an interesting project for someone with unusual taste! Each to their own.
  11. I have let Anne Norris know. I know she has always regretted selling it. Would be lovely to see them reunited again, she took it all over Europe every year with her father on holiday and has many happy memories with that car!

    Orange no more...

Fascinating post Nick. I always enjoy reading about what you have been tinkering with and this latest project does not disappoint! Hope you get to enjoy driving the car a little now. I feel your pain about moving as we have just done the same. I ended up having to take out a new unit to clear out my garage whilst we moved and low and behold, once bad back and 4 months later and all my stuff is still in storage. Slowly getting the garage to where I need it to be but lots still to do before the weather turns. I can Ill afford 2 storage units so time to get posterior into forward drive!

    Useful Part Numbers

I believe that it is a GL4 spec oil. I have some 1 Litre bottles available at the moment priced £14. I have tidied the contents of this thread up and moved it into the Members Only area, under Parts and Suppliers. I have locked this thread for commenting and will delete in a while. New Thread is here (for members only) -

    Useful Part Numbers

We had a place years ago where all the useful GM part numbers were saved so I thought we would resurrect this. If you have any part Numbers to add, please post them up and I will edit them down into a single list - to keep it easy to browse. ===================================================================================================== ENGINE & GEARBOX Getrag Transmission Oil - SAE 75W / 85W - Part No 93165290 CIH Oil Filter (1.9 / 2.0 / 2.4) - 93156958 CIH Sump Gasket kit - 08983127 CIH Rocker Cover Gasket - 90002406 1.8 Cam Cover Gasket - 90354545 ===================================================================================================== CHASSIS Opel Manta B Upper Ball Joint - 90093763 =====================================================================================================

I knew I had seen this before. Great find from 10 years ago! I’ll do some editing when I’m at my desktop and join this info up. Cheers Gary. I will also move it into the right section now it has got going.

    Centaur pics, info, owners etc

Well if you could pull something together we can make sure that you get a copy of the magazine, that’s no problem at all.

Ahhh....that was the infamous GUF! Excellent. Keep up the good work. Have you thought about putting an article together for the mag? It would make an interesting read and you know more about the Centaurs than the rest of us put together!

    Centaur pics, info, owners etc

I've been watching this thread with interest - I love to see these database coming together of the rare models. I was having a look through some old Billing Photos earlier this week and this White convertible cropped up for a few years running - MPL 1P. It has Centaur Badges on and according to the DVLA, was registered as a White Vauxhall Cavalier on 26th March 1980 - so the 4 slot front panel looks to be a later addition, like the Cheque Recaro interior and twin headlamps. I did have a quick skim through your list and I couldn't see this one mentioned.....the registration date and style of conversion would suggest that it is an original Centaur - at least I think! Here are a couple of pictures from the Concours at Billing in July 2004:

Hi Steve and welcome to the OMOC Forum and Club site. I have dropped Steve a quick message and told him about your post. He is a regular visitor in these parts, so I expect you will hear from him in due course. I hope you find the site useful and decide to join the club, where you will be able to access the whole site including the recent for sale ads and a wealth of technical information. Regards, Paul.

    Manta B CC

Hi Roemer, Welcome to the forum. The Louvres for the Manta are quite hard to find now. The ones we had available in the UK were manufactured by a company called Autoplas. They also did side louvres for the rear quarter glass windows. I had some fitted to my B Series when I bought it but they didn’t last long before I got rid of them. You can sometimes find them on eBay.
  23. You don’t see these come up for sale that often. In fact I don’t think I ever have ! Look good in a Manta with a 24v https://m.ebay.de/itm/Opel-Lotus-Omega-6-Gang-ZF-Getriebe-mit-Glocke-C36GET-24V-Irmscher-C30SE-CIH/183181765912?hash=item2aa67bed18:g:eBYAAOSwAL9UgdDr

OK ,i get the message perthic so called club.

Ok. Thanks for your constructive input, as ever. I think I can speak for the majority of forum users that think you are, unfortunately, a bit of a troll. Sorry but we can’t tolerate that so you are bannished from the kingdom. Bye bye. For those of you that are interested, I looked for TRW TRANSPORTATION ELECTRONICS on Companies House and the company was wound up in 2004. Some people are surely just out to try and rub everyone up the wrong way. This is one troll that was not worth feeding any more.

OK ,i get the message perthic so called club.

Philip, I don't really know what has annoyed you this time, so I'm not even going to expend too much energy replying to this post. I can say that the OMOC is a very welcoming club and we encourage members with all sorts of abilities, gender, geographical location and budget. What we don't tolerate however is rudeness and personal insults. This is not the first time I have had to speak to you about this sort of outburst. In fact, I think as a group of moderators and club officials, we have probably spoken about you as a forum user more than we have any other user in the last 2 years. You are, what I would call "High Maintenance". So - I would welcome an apology to the good people that put time and effort into keeping the club running. If this doesn't happen by the end of the weekend, you will be banned from the forum and your IP address blocked. You are more than welcome to go ahead and start up a new Manta club. Others (with far greater ability and budget than you) have tried it in the past and failed miserably. I predict that you probably wouldn't even be bothered to get it started but if you do - good luck to you. It will undoubtedly fail. You have until the end of the weekend to offer your humble apologies as a reply on this thread. If that is not forthcoming......its bye bye I'm afraid.
