Hi

Just had my renewal through from Adrian Flux for my 1980 Ascona B, including breakdown recovery it was £155 which was a big increase on last year.

Asked if they could give me a better price as I have my Manta with them as well & they checked & said no.

So I've now insured with Hagerty on the Ascona at £108 including breakdown & no additional £15 premium for agreed value.

Hagerty have also quoted me £178 for insuring both my Manta & Ascona so when my Manta runs out with Adrian Flux in July i'll be taking up Hagerty's offer.

Hi,

First of all thank you for your custom over the last 12 months and I apologise that there was an increase this year.

I'm glad to see you were able to find competitive cover and if you decide to try us again come renewal I would be more than happy to assist as always. We also do offer to try and compete with alternative quotations upon renewal where possible too.

Thanks again

Dan.

So you rather lose custom and wait a year to get them back at a competitive price. If that is how insurance companies roll no wonder the price keeps rocketing up with the so called admin costs.

I might as well take my cars with another company when my flux insurance ends soon, as nobody seems to look after long term customers.

p.s sorry for jumping in on your thread Rapierdave

So true Rob, insurance companies reward loyalty with piss take price increases. I wouldn't have moved if the difference was small but I have saved £47.

You have opened my eyes on Adrian Flux too, I have been checking, and R H can do it for £48.00 less, so I'm going to try some others now and get the best quote, I only went to Adrian Flux thinking that many of our members use them so they must be fair. I do NOT understand why they tell us " If you have obtained a favourable quote elsewhere, contact us and we GUARANTEE to beat their price" as per their leaflet. So that proves that they are charging to much when they give a quote!

I tried them on their price guarantee when I told them about the quote for my Ascona I had from Hagerty & they said they couldn't match it !

My Manta insurance is up for renewal with Flux in June, i'll see what the renewal quote is & then see what others including Hagerty can do it for.

I'll try the price guarantee again & see what they say this time.

Just renewed my insurance with flux was quoted £110 but when i went to insure with them a month later jumped to £126 and wanted to mirror my ncb on my other car which ive never had to do before. Also they quote £38 for breakdown but i was told £65 over the phone as my policy wouldn't accept the lower price???? Your thoughts Dan please. Ive used flux for as long as i can remember but i will be going elsewhere next time if its not any better next year.

Hi,

If you'd like to PM me your policy details I'd be happy to look into this for you.

Kind Regards

Dan

Try Chris Knott.

£74 fully comp for the B with agreed value on a limited mileage policy with no breakdown cover.

Really decent people to deal with.  Even recommended a more appropriate insurer to me for my MG when I bought it last year and needed a specialist policy for what is a much younger car - couldn't have asked for better service.

Just had  quote for my red coupe off Chris Knott. £188.91 if on my drive, agreed value 5.5k, £50 excess

Kept in garage, £115 with £100 excess

No commuting included

5000 mile limit

Thanks for that info Kev, no doubt mine will be similar or more with that agreed value price.

I will be seriously looking soon for insurance and going to try and do a two car policy on my Manta and Vectra GSi if anyone will touch them together.

Although I have my 79 Berlinetta Coupe up for sale, I decided to re-insure it after several time wasting replies to my ad. Was told by my insurers that to take out a further 12 months my premium had gone up about £30.  So shopped around on the net and finally went with Adrian Flux  (have insured yanks with them before)  the good news for me was after haggling and quoting other classic car brokers, I got my Manta insured = limited mileage   breakdown cover  and they wavered the charge for agreed value   total cost £79   thought this was very reasonable   anyone agree or can you better this?
