See My introduction in Hello Section and link to photos of car as she sits.

In all my pride i never thought to take photos of the bad bits so they are to follow when i get a chance.

Some cutting welding and painting will be needed but for now i just want to drive it, and see how its running.

just had the tank and fuel system flushed and cleaned, full engine service, and will need to get cables brake pads, little things like that.

Your help.

So for now i just need to know is there anything else that springs to mind to you experts that i need check before i take it on the road?

And most importantly I need a complete exhaust system, as the original is in bits. what would yous recommend? i done a quick search last night and sportex came up and was the only one i have looked at.

Any comments on sportex exhausts? and other options?

All input and opinions required and appreciated.

Thanks,

Alan

Hi Alan,

My good friend has a Sportex exhaust system on his Gold hatch and it sounds really good and gives you plenty of pops and bangs as well. :) I would personally recommend Sportex as the sound it gives is really good and I can never get over it when ever I go out in it. He is thinking of changing it though next time but I too don't know of the other options.

Cheers,

Jack.

Hi Alan, I'm currently doing exactly the same as you - restoring a 1984 GT/E hatchback. It's currently had the engine and gearbox taken out and is about to be deprived of it's interior and windows.

I've got to get an full exhaust system too. I saw the Sportex ones. I'm also looking into whether I can get a Jetex one. From the reports, its got a good throaty sound but its not as loud. From memory, I think Bosal do a system too.

Hope that helps and good luck

Jon

Also there is Ashley to consider they make great sounding exhausts for Mantas. I spoke to a friend of mine last night and he said there are two types of Jetex and they are about £500.00 for a full system. You will not regret Sportex. :D

Jack.

And just to add to that, ashley actually made all or most of the irmscher uk  systems.

I only know this because i went direct to ashley for my system (£200 up to the down pipes) and had a chat with them. :thumbup
