Brilliant considering age. Starts first time. Wheels without doubt need a re-spray. Interior is perfect apart from tear in the side of the driver’s seat and faded back seats.

Price – I want this car to go to an enthusiast not someone looking to make a quick buck, hence why I am only advertising on this forum.  I plan to run a silent auction until the 13th of September. Please submit your offers by email to guy_mcall@hotmail.com

Viewings can be arranged in Pevensey, East Sussex, BN24 please note the car is not allowed on the road but there is a small private road where the car can be driven. To arrange a viewing email me or call on 07752 517836 / 01323 769099

This car is a true gem and I know it will do someone proud. If this wasn’t a 3rd car I would keep it as I really fallen for it. I truly feel very lucky to have inherited it.

I hope everything has been covered...now for the good stuff, photos! Full set of photos can be found here http://postimg.org/gallery/10cvza7ro/d07131e3/ or http://bay-lettings.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/mantab.zip

Hi all,

As of next week this lady will have 12months MOT on her. I'm suprised after lots of interest on my first post no one has made an offer or even commented on this thread, am I missing something?!

Unfortunantly, due to the current lack of interest I will be advertising elsewhere.

Will confirm when the car is sold.

Best,

Guy

There are a few on here who like me are not entirely sure what a silent auction is.

try it again on the Manta forum with a set price.

Hi Guy,

Like you very surprised no one has contacted you as your car sounds a really good project - a MOT is an instant seller in my mind.

No one can moan on this site when you offered them 1st view of your car.

Try http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/list/34/manta/  to advertise it - it is free & gives good results - better than flee bay.

From my side I have a old Manta like yours & not enough for 2.

Good luck with the sale which won't take long as it is a car that many would like to improve being so original.

Cheers,

Neil

The idea is the same as buying a house - send in your offer & when the seller has all the offers in - the highest wins - stops a bidding war like flee bay.

A bit like sealed bids - once all envelopes are in - open them & see highest bid & sell it to that person. A good idea if you ask me.

Isn't this against our forum rules that ask for a price & location.

Hi guys appreciate the comments.

I really did want to keep this inside the Manta forum but now I have advertised elsewhere people are interested.

I planned an open to offers proposition because the car is hard to price. It's very rare, in great condition and has everything, even a 1976 V5C and roof racks!

I'm also aware that by running open offers I will be messed around. So I will lay down a price with 12months MOT. £2250

Thanks again,

Guy

I have generally found that when i've sold cars in the past that owners club forums don't normally yield a buyer, this is probably due to the people you're offering your car to having already got one Manta possibly more & to buy another would risk divorce.

Car & Classic or Flea bay usually has worked for me in the past.

I am pleased you have sold the car Guy & it sounds like you got a good price.

I recon if you'd put a price up first you may have had some more interest :)

People, generally speaking, can't be arsed pm'ing and messing about looking for a price. Offering it in a ham fisted 'auction' then changing your mind halfway through wouldn't inspire confidence either.
