Stig - Sabb turbo could be an idea if theres a gearbox I can use. One C20LET in my life is enough at the moment!

Dave - :D

The saab turbo fits the same gearbox the 16v and v6 as vauxhall and saab shared the engine design.
Not quite a drop in conversion though as the inlet manifold points the wrong way, you need to make a completly new exhaust manifold to mount the turbo in a different position and various other issues.

The idea of a Manconalier has crossed my mind actually. Leaning towards leaving the bodywork less than perfect and worrying about the mechanics and power plant first.

Ive just checked the seats and Im missing the subframes of the recaros which threw me. Hopefully the ones of the cav seats will fit!

There's one of these on top of a container in a scrap yard in Barnsley, I took a picture of it a while back, very rusty though......Posted Image

Love the cav. My first introduction into the manta/ cav/ scone chassis was a 1256 mk1 cav.
Then a couple of years late my wife got given a
1600 two door cav from her grandad. I was green with envy!
If you do want to do an Ascona front conversion ( if you do the car will be worth 4 times as much) I can supply all the parts and info on how to do it.
The car is yours. Do with it what you want. it's rare yes. Convert it and it makes the others even rarer but still not worth as much as an Ascona 2 door
